2022-23 Men's Golf Preview

Head coach Scott Lokers and golfer Jack Guerrera
The Hope College men's golf team is poised to build on a strong finish last spring.

The Flying Dutchmen won the MIAA's NCAA Division III Championships qualifier last spring after finishing runner-up during the regular-season fall slate. Hope went to finish 22nd at the national tournament last May.

All of the golfers who competed at nationals will be in Hope's lineup this fall.

2022 Schedule

The Flying Dutchmen begin the season with a 36-hole, one-day tournament hosted by Aurora University (Ill.) on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Hope will host an MIAA Jamboree on Monday, Sept. 26, at Wuskowhan Players Club.

The 36-hole MIAA Fall Finish is Friday-Saturday, Oct. 14-15, at Kaufman Golf Course in Wyoming, Michigan.

Head Coach

Scott Lokers, sixth season

2022 Roster

On their roster of 12 golfers, the Flying Dutchmen return nine letter winners from last season, including four All-MIAA selections.

Junior Will Robson (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven HS) and sophomore Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) were first-team selections last fall. Senior Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata) and Jack Crawford (Carmel, Indiana  Carmel) were second-team honorees.

By the Numbers

Both Will Robson and Jack Guerrera averaged 74s during MIAA last fall. Robson recorded the fourth-lowest average among MIAA Golfers. Guerrera finished sixth. Jack Crawford shot 76 for the 10th lowest average. Seth Almquist was 11th at 77.

Hope has qualified to play in seven of the past nine NCAA Championships and 15 overall.

The Flying Dutchmen have claimed 21 MIAA regular championships.

Will Robson is the 20th Hope men's golfer to earn All-MIAA recognition more than once during his career.

Coach's Outlook

"I love this team. It's an outstanding group of young men. They like to have fun. They like to compete. They're motivated to play their best. (The NCAA Championships were) a great experience, really the pinnacle of NCAA Division III golf in my opinion. To watch our team have a chance for that experience was great fun. It's a great week. I'm hoping it's going to motivate us in terms of taking more steps forward. Every year is different, but they got a taste of that environment." - Scott Lokers
