Senior Claire Baguley and the fifth-ranked Hope College women's basketball team headed into the thick of MIAA play with a bang.
The environmental science major from Ada, Michigan ( Forest Hills Central HS ) set five different season-highs on the road during a 88-62 win over Alma College on Wednesday night, including a career-high 26 points.
The forward led the Flying Dutch while also netting season-bests in field-goals made and attempted, as well as 3-pointers made and attempted. Baguley shot 10-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point line. Baguley also went 3-of-4 from the foul line.
Hope outscored the Scots 23-8 in the second quarter to build a 46-26 halftime lead.
The Flying Dutch moved to 12-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Hope also improved its win streak against the Scots to 48 games, a run that dates back to the 1999-2000 season.
Senior Savannah Feenstra (Osceola, Indiana / Northwood) put up 15 points after shooting 6-of-11 from the field.
Senior Ella McKinney (Haslett, Michigan / Haslett) chipped in 14 points, including both free throws she attempted.
Sophomore Jada Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) grabbed 11 points off the bench, going 5-of-7 from the field.
Senior Meg Morehouse (Zeeland, Michigan /Zeeland, East) ended the night with a team-high seven rebounds and six assists for the Flying Dutch.
The Flying Dutch nabbed a total of 48 rebounds in the win while forcing 23 Alma turnovers and holding the Scots to 42% shooting from the field.
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 7, as the Flying Dutch travel to Olivet College for more MIAA action with a 1 p.m. tipoff.
