ACHA Hockey Takes Two from Missouri State

The Hope College ice hockey team celebrated "One Big Weekend" with a pair of home victories against Missouri State University.

The Flying Dutchmen won 4-2 on Friday and 6-1 on Saturday and raised their record to 4-0 on the season.

On Friday, junior right wing Nolan Convertini (Muskegon, Michigan / Muskegon Catholic Central HS) scored twice, including a go-ahead goal 4 minutes, 39 seconds into the second period. 

Freshman forward Griffin Riemersma (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) followed seven minutes later with a goal that put Hope ahead 3-1.

Senior goalie Ryan McClelland (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central) stopped 30 shots.

On Saturday, the Flying Dutchmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead and received goals from six different players.

Riemersma's goal with 6:15 remaining in the second period was the game-winner.

McClelland recorded 31 saves.

Hope's next ACHA series is Friday-Saturday, Oct. 20-21, against Western Michigan University.

The Flying Dutchmen host Friday's game at 7:30 p.m. at Griff's IceHouse West and play Saturday's game at 7:15 p.m. Wings Ice Arena in Kalamazoo.
