ACHA Hockey Claims Split against Saginaw Valley State

The Hope College ice hockey team split a weekend ACHA series with Saginaw Valley State University.

On Friday, the Flying Dutchmen won on home ice, 4-2, at Griff's Icehouse West. On Saturday, Hope fell, 4-0, at Saginaw Valley State.

Hope's record is now 9-3 overall.

Senior right wing Nolan Convertini (Muskegon, Michigan / Muskegon Catholic Central HS) scored twice on Friday, including the game-clinching goal with 10 seconds remaining in the third period.

The Flying Dutchmen never trailed after jumping out to a 3-0 lead capped by Convertini's goal 6 minutes, 8 seconds into the second period.

Senior forward Ryan Endres (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern) and sophomore forward Hunter Maschke (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) chipped in first-period goals for Hope.

Sophomore goalie Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler) stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced.

On Saturday, Schick made 16 saves in a losing effort.

It was the first time this season the Flying Dutchmen had been shut out.

Hope's next series is Friday-Saturday, Nov. 17-18, against Calvin University. On Friday, the Flying Dutchmen play at Calvin at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Hope hosts Calvin at 7:30 p.m. at Griff's IceHouse West.
