ACHA Hockey Shuts Out Arizona State In Final Game Before Christmas Break

The seventh-ranked Hope College ice hockey team wrapped up the 2023 calendar year with a 4-0 shutout of visiting Arizona State University in ACHA Division 3 play on Friday at Griff's Ice House West.

Junior goalie Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler HS) turned away 20 shots for the Flying Dutchmen.

It was the fourth shutout of the season for Hope (13-4 overall).

The Flying Dutchmen received goals from four different skaters, including a game-winning goal from Dylan Kingsbury with 1 minute, 19 seconds remaining in the second period.

Senior right wing Nolan Convertini (Muskegon, Michigan / Muskegon Catholic Central) and senior defenseman Luke McKinch (Plymouth, Wisconsin / Plymouth Comprehensive) each were credited with assists.

Hope tacked on three more goals during the third period.

Sophomore forward Gunnar Suidinski (Wyoming, Michigan / Grandville), freshman right wing Brady Breit (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) and McKinch all scored.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with 63 shots on goal.

Hope's next ACHA series is Friday-Saturday, Jan. 12-13, against Davenport University.

The Flying Dutchmen host Davenport on January 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Griff's IceHouse West.

Hope skates vs. Davenport on January 13 at 6 p.m. at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids.
