Hope College Holds MIAA Commissioner's Cup Lead after Fall Season

In the first MIAA Commissioner's Cup update of the 2023-24 school year, Hope College leads the all-sports standings after the fall season with 48.5 points.

The fall update is an unofficial look at the MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings.  The award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports: 11 in women's sports and 12 in men's sports.  Each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.

This fall update includes each team's MIAA finish in three men's and three women's sports.

Hope holds a six-point lead over second-place Calvin University. Trine University is in third place with 37.5 points and followed by Albion College (31), Kalamazoo College (29), Alma College (25), Adrian College (23), The University of Olivet (19) and Saint Mary's College (9.5).

This fall, Hope finished first or second in five of six countable sports.

Hope claimed an outright MIAA title in women's volleyball and an MIAA co-championship in women's cross country.

Hope placed runner-up in men's cross country, football and women's soccer and took third in men's soccer.

This is the first year men's and women's golf are not included in the MIAA Commissioner's Cup update because their season standings will not be determined until the spring.

In men's sports, Hope totaled 23 points and was followed by Trine (22), Calvin (18), Alma (17), Kalamazoo (14.5), Albion (14), Olivet (12.5), and Adrian (9).

In women's sports, Hope accumulated 25.5 points and was followed by Calvin (24.5), Albion (17), Trine (15.5), Adrian (14), Saint Mary's (9.5), Alma (8) and Olivet (6.5).
