The nationally-ranked Hope College women's basketball team put forth a team win against the University of Olivet on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Comets, 81-43.
The Comets came to DeVos Fieldhouse with a strong start, pushing for four lead changes and tying three different times before Hope took charge.
A second-quarter opening 10-0 run for the Flying Dutch began with a Jada Garner layup and ended with an Olivia Bellows three-pointer to increase Hope's lead to 14.
Hope is now 6-1 this season, 2-0 in MIAA play.
The Flying Dutch were led by junior Olivia Bellows (Lake City, Michigan / Lake City HS) and freshman Terin Maynard (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Jenison) with 11 points a piece.
Both Bellows and Maynard were perfect from behind the free throw line, 6-6 and 4-4, respectively, while Maynard sent in 3 of her 5 shots from the field and shot 50% from behind the arc.
Junior guard Jada Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow) did not miss a shot en route to her 10 points on the court. Garner sank all three shots from the field and both attempts from behind the arc.
Sophomore Lauren Leach (Angola, Indiana / Angola) had a game-high six rebounds. Senior Raven Jemison (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Kentwood), junior Hannah Kurncz (DeWitt, Michigan / DeWitt), and sophomore Lily Miller (Norton Shores, Michigan / Mona Shores) each grabbed five rebounds to help Hope out-rebound Olivet 46-35.
