Hope is seeded first in the MIAA Tournament for the 14th team in team history after winning a second-half league record tiebreaker with co-champion Trine University. Last season, the Flying captured the MIAA Tournament title en route to the third national championship in program history. Albion is seeded fourth in the MIAA Tournament. The winner advances to play either second-seeded Trine or third-seeded Calvin University in the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.

This is the Flying Dutch's 31st MIAA Tournament appearance. Hope owns a 60-12 all-time record in postseason play since the format to determine the MIAA's recipient of an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships began in 1993. Albion is 16-25 in MIAA Tournament action, including three title game appearances and one championship in 2004.

The Flying Dutch own a 21-7 record in the MIAA Tournament semifinals, including victories in their last five semifinal appearances. Hope's last semifinal loss came in 2017 when Calvin knocked off the Flying Dutch, 67-65 in overtime, at Trine.

Hope is 4-2 against Albion in the MIAA Tournament and 75-31 all-time against the Britons. The Flying Dutch last played Albion in the MIAA Tournament in 2009. Hope won, 79-52, in the semifinals at DeVos Fieldhouse. The Flying Dutch went on to defeat Saint Mary's College, 77-47, in the championship game.

This season, Hope and Albion split their regular-season meetings, winning on each other's courts. The Britons snapped a 10-game losing streak on January 14 with a 69-53 victory at Albion. It was the Flying Dutch's lowest-scoring game of the season. On January 28, Hope rebounded with a 78-49 victory at DeVos Fieldhouse.
