Men's Golf Ties for Fifth at GARN Championship in Kentucky

The Hope College men's golf team tied for fifth place at the 54-hole, 19-team GARN Championship this week in Lexington, Kentucky.

On Tuesday, the Flying Dutchmen shot a final-round 312 at Keene Trace Golf Club to finish the two-day tournament at plus-67. On Monday, Hope carded rounds of 308 and 311.

No. 13-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University won the event at plus-21 (293-291-301—885). The Flying Dutchmen were the second-lowest Division III team in the field behind Illinois Wesleyan and tied Indiana Wesleyan University in the overall standings.

Freshman Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) tied for sixth place in the individual standings at 9-over par.

Casey carded rounds of 1-over-par 73 and 76 on Monday and 76 on Tuesday.

Junior Will Robson (Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) tied for 13th at 12-over.

Robson totaled rounds of 74 AND 75 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Jack Guerrera (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) tied for 43rd after shooting rounds of 80, 76 and 81.

Freshman Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) finished one stroke behind Guerrera after carding rounds of 79, 80 and 79.

Sophomore Will Webb (Lake Forest, Illinois / Lake Forest) shot rounds of 82, 80 and 79.

Senior Seth Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata) carded rounds of 85, 82 and 78.

Hope's next event is the 36-hole Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Friday-Saturday, April 7-8, at Ironwood Golf Club in Bloomington, Illinois.
