ACHA Hockey Skates Past Dartmouth In Season Finale

The Hope College ice hockey team closed the 2023-24 season with a 10-6 victory against Dartmouth College on Saturday night at the ACHA Division 3 National Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with a 27-6 overall record after going 2-1 in pool play at nationals.

Hope did not advance from pool play to the national semifinals.

Senior right wing Jake Adams (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids HS) and junior defenseman Ian MacDonald (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) led the Flying Dutchmen with two goals apiece at Centene Community Ice Center, practice home of the NHL's St. Louis Blues.

Hope led 3-1 after the first period and 8-3 after the third period.

Sophomore center Jake Onstott (Zeeland, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) chipped in a game-high four assists and one goal.

Senior center Gabe Gunneson (Rockford, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) collected two assists and one goal.

Hope also received goals from freshman right wing Brady Breit (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center), senior right wing Nolan Convertini (Muskegon, Michigan / Muskegon Catholic Central), sophomore forward Hunter Maschke (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) and senior defenseman Ashton Bol (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian).

Senior goalkeeper Ryan McClelland (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) recorded 48 saves for the Flying Dutchmen, who were outshot 54-48.
