Andrew Pickett Matches Career-High RBI Total in Series-Opening Loss to Albion

Senior catcher Andrew Pickett slugged a three-run homer and matched his career-high with four RBIs for the MIAA-leading Hope College baseball team on Friday during a 13-8 loss at Albion College.

The Flying Dutchmen (16-13, 10-3 MIAA) maintained a half-game lead over second-place Adrian College in the league standings heading into the doubleheader against visiting Albion on Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. at Boeve Baseball Stadium. It is Poster Day

Friday's loss snapped a season-high five-game winning streak for Hope.

Albion (14-16, 6-7 MIAA) jumped to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after the Britons collected seven hits and did not let starting pitcher Mason Belmore (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) get out of the inning.

Albion pushed the lead to 9-0 before senior first baseman Owen Krizan (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) put the Flying Dutchmen on the board with an RBI single.

Pickett (Carmel, Indiana / Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) smacked an RBI triple and scored on an RBI double from senior centerfielder Robbie Stuursma (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) during a two-run sixth.

In the ninth, Pickett blasted a three-run homer. It was his second home run of the season.

Belmore dropped to 5-2 on the season. Winning pitcher Cole Ciesige scattered eight hits and three runs over 5.2 innings of work.
