2024 HOPEYs Nominees: Male Be Strong. Be True. Athlete of the Year

Note: The annual HOPEYs celebration of Hope College Athletics will be held on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.

The Be Strong, Be True. Athlete of the Year Award is presented to 
a junior or senior who demonstrates the true essence of being a student-athlete and embodies the Division III motto of Discover, Develop, Dedicate.  This student-athlete is in high academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.5), plays a significant role on the team, and is involved in the Hope and Holland community.

Dylan Clem, Football

A civil engineering major and standout guard, Clem was voted as one of five offensive linemen to receive first-team honors on the Academic All-America® football teams for NCAA Division III chosen by the College Sports Communicators organization.  On the field, Clem earned All-America honors from D3football.com for the first time and All-MIAA recognition for the third season last fall.

Michael Mann, Men's Lacrosse

A public accounting/business major and standout attacker, Mann received Scholar All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. He was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team. On the field, Mann scored a career-high 58 goals during the 2023 season which also ranks as the third-most in a single season by a Flying Dutchmen player. Mann also is the only Flying Dutchmen player with two career eight-goal games. 

Graham O'Gorman, Baseball

The senior pitcher and political science/classical studies major made his mark in the classroom and on the pitching mound. On the field, O'Gorman excelled on the pitching mound as a junior during the 2023 season, posting a career-best 7-2 record that included the 11th no-hitter in school history. O'Gorman made the MIAA Academic Honor Roll as a junior, sophomore and freshman.
