Baseball Homers Twice in Ripon Win, Edged by Marian in Indiana

Centerfielder Jace DeMann and designated hitter Cade Seabaugh slugged the Hope College baseball team's first home runs of the season on Saturday, helping the Flying Dutchmen split their games in Westfield, Indiana.

The Orange and Blue defeated Ripon College (Wisconsin), 15-5, in eight innings in Saturday's first game, then fell to Marian University (Wisconsin), 5-3. 

Against Ripon, Seabaugh (Ballwin, Missouri / Ladue Horton) blasted a three-run home to cap a five-run top of the first.

DeMann (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) slugged a two-run homer during the fourth for an 8-1 lead.

Rightfielder Brendan Collins (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Hackett Catholic) went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, smacking a three-run triple in the eighth to close the scoring.

Hope collected 15 hits and five walks. 

Reliever Josiah Long (Newaygo, Michigan / Newaygo) scattered two runs and two hits over 1 ? innings to pick up the victory.

Against Marian, Seabaugh delivered two of the Flying Dutchmen's six hits, lacing a RBI double in the bottom of the first and a RBI single to center during a two-run sixth.

Keon Booker collected two hits for Marian (1-1), including a decisive two-run singles during the fifth.

Hope (1-2) returns to the diamond for a three-game series on Friday-Saturday, SFeb. 27-28, at Otterbein University (Ohio).
