Three Female Standouts Claim MIAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Three female Hope College student-athletes have been chosen as MIAA Athletes of the Week: freshman Grace Dawson in women's diving, senior Greta Gidley in women's swimming, and senior Amanda Lopykinski in women's tennis.

Dawson (Jackson, Michigan / Western) is the MIAA Women's Diving Athlete of the Week for the first time.

During Friday's dual meet at Calvin University, Dawson swept top honors by posting season-high, six-attempt scores of 283.27 on the 3-meter board and 263.46 on the 1-meter.

Gidley (Franklin, Michigan / Mercy) is the MIAA Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the third time this season and the seventh time in her career.

The elementary education major clocked first-place times in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.64 seconds and in the 200 breaststroke at a season-high best 2:21.68. Gidley also swim leadoff on the second-place 200 medley relay 

Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) is the MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the seventh time in her career.

The neuroscience major won all three matches at No. 1 singles over the weekend, including No. 18 Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) on Friday, and No. 12 Carnegie Mellon University (Pennsylvania) and Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
