Patrick Michael Finishes Runner-Up at Ebels Invite, Men's Golf Ties for Third

Hope College senior Patrick Michael carded a 2-over-par 73 during the final round of Hope College's Bob Ebels Invitational at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University and tied for second place individually.

Michael of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel) finished at 3-over for the 36-hole, two-day tournament, three strokes behind Calvin University's Ethan Tiller.

The Flying Dutchmen tied for third place in the team standings after shooting 300 during the final round and moving up three spots from the first round.

Trine University topped 13 teams at 17-over (295-290). Central College placed runner-up (303-300). Calvin's 'B' team equaled Hope at 605 (301-304).

The tournament honored one of Hope's most successful men's golf coaches, who guided the Flying Dutchmen to 10 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship appearances and 14 MIAA titles during his tenure.

On Saturday, freshman Kody Vis of Spring Lake, Mich. (Spring Lake) carded a 74.

Three Hope golfers recorded 75s: senior Liam Casey of Northville, Mich. (Detroit Catholic Central), senior Klay Redman of Dublin, Ohio (Dublin Coffman) and freshman Eli Voisard of Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe).

Three more shot 77s: junior Hank Roebuck of Ann Arbor, Mich. (Skyline), freshman Landon Bergsma of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian), and freshman Joey Blondia of Richland, Mich. (Gull Lake).

Hope next tees off on Monday, April 20, at 9 a.m. Central at the 54-hole, two-day Millikin University Invitational.
