Men's Golf Ties for Sixth at Millikin Invitational

Hope College senior Liam Casey finished 7-over-par after 54 holes to lead the Flying Dutchmen golf team at the two-day, Millikin University Invitational in Decatur, Illinois.

Casey, of Northville, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central), carded back-to-back rounds of 73 on Monday at the Country Club of Decatur and 77 on Tuesday. He finished 14th overall in a field of 82.

Lake Forest University's Tyler Wengronowitz claimed medalist honors at 2-under.

Two Illinois Wesleyan groups topped the 13-school field at 7- and 8-over. The Flying Dutchmen tied for sixth place at 45-over with Millikin following rounds of 297, 302 and 310.

Junior Patrick Michael of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel), tied for 21st at 9-over after carding rounds of 72, 79 and 74.


Senior Kyle Redman of Dublin, Ohio (Dublin Coffman), posted scores of 74, 74 and 80.

Freshman Joey Blondia of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake), shot 79, 76 and 79. Freshman Eli Voisard of Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe), recorded rounds of 78, 84 and 80. Junior Hank Roebuck of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Skyline), had an 84, 84 and 86.

Hope will next compete at the MIAA Spring Finale, presented by Collegiate Credit Union, on Wednesday-Thursday, April 29-30, at HawksHead Golf Course in South Haven. Golfers tee off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start each day.
