Senior Liam Casey Leads Men's Golf at Illinois Wesleyan Invite

Hope College junior Liam Casey fired rounds of 75 and 71 amidst rainy conditions at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Invitational this weekend and tied for 14th place in the 254-golfer field.

Casey, of Northville, Mich. (Detroit Catholic Central) finished at 3-over-par at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.

The Flying Dutchmen rose three spots during Saturday's final round and placed 16th at the 41-team, 36-hole event. Hope shot rounds of 298 on Friday and 309 on Saturday. Ninth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the event at 6-over (281-297). The field featured 10 nationally-ranked teams.

Freshman Joey Blondia of Richland, Mich. (Gull Lake) shot 7-over for the Flying Dutchmen (73-78).

Senior Klay Redman of Dublin, Ohio (Coffman) was two strokes back after a 74 and a 79.

Freshman Eli Voisard of Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe) carded a 75 and an 81.

Senior Patrick Michael of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel) chipped in a 76 and an 81.

Sophomore Will Thomas of Portage, Mich. (Portage Central) had an 81 and an 84.

Hope next will tee off on Friday-Saturday, April 10-11, when the Flying Dutchmen host their Bob Ebels Invitational at The Meadows in Allendale.
