The 32nd-ranked Hope College women's tennis team saw its postseason run conclude on Friday morning in St. Louis, falling 4–0 to defending national champion and #3-ranked Washington University in St. Louis in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
The MIAA regular-season and tournament champion Flying Dutch close their season at 17–8.
Hope battled through a tough doubles slate against one of the nation's elite, with WashU securing the opening point behind commanding wins at No. 2 and No. 3. In singles, the Bears' depth showed early, taking straight-set victories at Nos. 1, 4, and 6 to clinch the match before the remaining courts could finish. Several Flying Dutch players were positioned deep in competitive third sets or late-match pushes when play was halted.
