Men’s Soccer, Volleyball Standouts Named MIAA Athletes of the Week

Two Hope College student-athletes have been named MIAA Athletes of the Week: senior Seth Walters in men's soccer and sophomore Brooke Hehl in women's volleyball.

Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) and Hehl (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) received MIAA weekly accolades for the first time.

An electrical engineering major, Walters totaled three goals and two assists last week during two matches in Virginia.

The forward netted a hat trick and an assist in a 4-1 win at Roanoke College, then added an assist in a 2-1 loss at 10th-ranked University of Lynchburg.

Hehl, the MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week, delivered a breakout performance during a 4-0 week for the Flying Dutch that included three-set wins against No. 21-ranked St. Olaf College and Gustavus Adolphus, which received votes in the most recent AVCA national rankings.

Hehl averaged 10.2 assists per set while leading Hope to a .242 team hitting percentage over 13 sets. She also contributed 15 blocks and 14 kills.
