Four Selected as MIAA Athletes of the Week

Four Hope College standouts have been chosen as MIAA Athletes of the Week: swimmers Josh Bordovsky and Callie Marks, diver Grace Dawson, and Gabriela Rocker from tennis.

Dawson is MIAA Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career and the first time this season. This is the first weekly honor for Bordovsky, Marks and Rocker.

Bordovsky (Herndon, Virginia / South Lakes) excelled at the annual Be Better; Invite, on Friday hosted by the University of Michigan, leading off the Flying Dutch's 400 freestyle relay in 46.24 seconds, just .09 ahead of Michigan's leadoff swimmer. The junior mathematics major also finished third in the 100 individual medley with a time of 51.78, behind two Michigan swimmers. He opened the meet by swimming the breaststroke leg of Hope's medley relay, posting a 26.08 split that ranked second-fastest in the event. His 100 freestyle and 100 IM times are believed to rank among the fastest in NCAA Division III so far this season.

Dawson (Jackson, Michigan / Western) posted the top Division III performance in 3-meter diving at the Be Better; Invite, scoring 212 points over six dives. The sophomore scored 40 points higher than the nearest Division III competitor.

Marks (Boulder, Colorado / Fairview) shined in an impressive collegiate debut at the Be Better Invitational on Friday. The freshman finished third in the 500 freestyle behind two swimmers from Michigan with a time of 5:10.10. Her time is believed to be the fastest among NCAA Division III swimmers early in the 2026-27 season and would have placed third at last year's MIAA Championships.

Rocker (Tampa, Florida / Tampa Preparatory) reached the Round of 16 in singles play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional last weekend in Kalamazoo and finished with a 2-1 record. The freshman topped Avelynn Wen of Lake Forest in the first round before upsetting No. 9 seed Caitlin Van Winkle of Denison in the round of 32. Rocker then ost to No. 4 seed Eleanor Archer of Washington University in the round of 16. Rocker also teamed with Sophia Grzesiak to earn a doubles victory over Case Western Reserve in the round of 32 before falling to the tournament's top-seeded duo from Washington University.
