The Hope College ice hockey team founded during the 1996-97 school year and has quickly developed into a national power.
The Flying Dutchmen claimed a Division 3 national championship in the American Collegiate Hockey Association three times: 2021-22, 2020-21 and 2017-2018 seasons. They were national runner-up five times: 2022-23, 2013-14, 2010-11, 2009-10 and 2002-03.
The Flying Dutchmen have claimed the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) West Division regular-season title eight times: 2024-25, 2023-24, 2022-23, 2021-22, 2014-15, 2011-12, 2010-11, 2009-10, 2007-08 and 2004-05.
Hope has won the MCHC tournament championship seven times: 2025, 2024, 2023, 2019, 2015, 2008, 2007, 2004 and 2003.
Head coach Chris Van Timmeren was named ACHA Coach of the Year four times: 2020-21, 2017-18, 2007-08, and 2006-07.
The Flying Dutchmen have produced two ACHA National Players of the Year, 20Â ACHA All-Americans and 106 ACHA Academic All-Americans, and 72Â all-conference players in the MCHC.
