GET TO KNOW

Why did you choose to attend Hope College? I chose to attend Hope was because of the outstanding science programs, the strong sense of community, and most importantly the people. After my visit, I knew that I would have the opportunity to make life long friends here as well as get a degree that would help me get into graduate school and pursue a career in the medical field.

What were your favorite subjects in high school? Biology & math

Name a role model or models who have impacted your life? And describe how. All of my uncles were huge role models in my life. My family has always been big into sports, whether it be coaching or playing, therefore growing up my uncles always taught me through example what it means to compete, work hard, and be a man of integrity both on and off the field.

List a favorite Bible verse and why it is meaningful to you. Proverbs 5: 3-4 - I have dealt with a number of serious injuries in my life time and this verse has always gotten me through them. Whenever I had doubts about whether or not I should continue playing sports, it always reminded me that God had a plan for me and everything was going to be alright.

What is your favorite pregame meal or snack? I try not to eat a lot right before games, but I would have to say that a Jimmy Johns #4 about an hour and a half before game time is normally my go to.

What type of pregame music do you enjoy? I usually listen to either rap or country depending on my mood.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received? To give 100% effort in everything you do. I know it sounds basic but when you are giving it your all, good things will eventually happen, and when your goals are finally achieved you get an overwhelming sense of accomplishment that you won't get when things are handed to you.

If you have chosen a major, why did you? The study of the body and how it moves really interests me and will help me with my job later in life.

Who is the best Hope College professor? Dr. Johnson. He was able to make a typically very hard class much easier to understand and really got to know his students at a deeper level.

After I graduate I plan to… Go on to medical school and eventually become an orthopedic surgeon.

What gets you in the zone before a game? Listening to music

What is the best game you have been apart of? The walkoff win against Alma during the regular season

Who is your athletic hero or inspiration? My Uncle, he was the one who really pushed me to get better and also developed my love for sports in general.

How does your sport bring you joy? It serves as a time away from everything else in the world as well as just allows me to spend quality time with my teammates who I would consider my best friends.

What is an experience you have done off? I would say just being able to meet new people and friends at Hope has really shaped me.

One life lesson I have learned from myself. You never know when something will happen and you will play in your last game, so play every game like it is your last.

Name a role model who has impacted your life. My Uncle for showing me how to love sports and others as well as always working hard and keeping a positive outlook on life.

List a favorite Bible verse and why. Proverbs 3:5-6 . I have had many injuries in other set backs and losses in my life, and this verse always has just served as a source of reassurance that even in times of doubt that it is all a part of God's plans for me.

The thing in my life I am most proud of. Being a good family member. My family means everything to me and just being there for them is something I'm proud of.
