Austin Randel

Austin Randel joined the Hope College women’s basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2021–22 season.

Randel brought multiple years of collegiate coaching experience to the Flying Dutch, including two seasons at Aquinas College (NAIA) and two seasons at Calvin University. During his time at Calvin, he was named interim head coach for the 2018–19 season.

As a student-athlete, Randel competed at the NCAA Division II level, playing two seasons at North Greenville University (S.C.) before finishing his collegiate career at Ferris State University. At North Greenville, he remains among the program’s all-time leaders, ranking seventh in career 3-point field goals and total points, and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage. He also holds the school record for most 3-pointers made in a single game with eight. Randel surpassed the 1,000-point mark during his collegiate career and went on to play two seasons professionally with the Grand Rapids Cyclones.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Randel serves as a head coach for a Michigan Basketball Academies women’s national team and as the organization’s Women’s Basketball Player Development Director. He brings more than a decade of experience in player development, having worked with and helped develop athletes at the NBA, NCAA, and high school levels.
