Austin Hunt was named head coach for Hope College women's and men's tennis on July 28, 2021.
In four seasons, Hunt has led the Flying Dutch to four MIAA Tournament titles, contributing to a streak of 13 titles in a row for the program, and three MIAA regular-season championships (2022, 2024, 2025). He has coached three MIAA Women's Tennis MVPs and 12 All-MIAA honorees (six first team and three second team).
Prior to starting his tenure at Hope, Hunt served as the assistant tennis coach for McKinney Boyd High School in the Dallas Metropolitan Area from 2018 to 2020. After MBHS, Hunt transitioned to being the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach for an NCAA Division II program, Grand Valley State University (2020-21), where he helped both teams compete for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championships.
As a junior player, Hunt competed in the USTA Gulf States Region, competing in USTA Tournaments throughout the state of Texas. He reached an all-time high ranking of No. 22 in the Texas and No. 420 nationally before committing to play collegiate tennis at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
While competing for Cornerstone, Hunt concluded his tennis career ranked fifth all-time with 94 career combined singles and doubles wins. His 46 singles wins while playing in the top half of the lineup are the fourth-most in team history, as are his 48 doubles wins. After graduating from Cornerstone, Hunt moved on to the University of Michigan, earning his master’s degree in sport management.
Hunt now lives in Holland, Michigan with his wife of eight years, Kayla, and daughter, Joanna.
