Curt Copeland '03 returned to the Hope College Football coaching staff a tight ends/H-backs coach before the 2026 season.

Copeland has 18 years of coaching experience, including four at the collegiate level and 14 at the high school level. He had served as offensive coordinator and pass game coordinator at Grand Rapids South Christian High School from 2016-25. He helped the Sailors reach the Michigan High School Athletic Association state playoffs all 10 seasons and claim the 2022 Division 4 state championship with a 14-0 record. He continues to serve as a physical education teacher at South Christian. He has served in other leadership roles at the high school level as athletic director at South Christian for seven years and Fowlerville for 1 1/2 years.

At Hope, Copeland coached running backs and quarterback for two seasons apiece as a member of Dean Kreps' staff (2006-10). The Flying Dutchmen won an outright MIAA title in 2006 and were co-champions in 2007. Hope advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2006.

Copeland holds a master's degree in sports management from Western Michigan University (2011) and a bachelor's in education from Hope.
