Ken George became a full-time assistant coach for Hope College Men’s Basketball on April 12, 2024.
George had served as a part-time assistant for the Flying Dutchmen since the 2020-21 season.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for Hope Basketball to continue to evolve and maximize what we do as a program," head coach Greg Mitchell said. "Ken’s experience, leadership and commitment to our players, as well as his overall knowledge and wisdom will positively impact our team and culture on a daily basis. I’m blessed to have amazing coaches on my staff and to expand Ken‘s role will certainly help us maintain and build on our championship tradition.”
Prior to joining Hope, George coached boys basketball at the high school level for three decades. He won 341 games over 24 seasons at Forest Hills Central in Ada, Michigan, and led the Rangers to nine conference championships, four Michigan High School Athletic Association district titles and three MHSAA regional championships.
George taught language arts and communication at Forest Hills Central before retirement. He operates camps and clinics for youth basketball players and coaches in Grand Rapids through the West Michigan Guard Academy and HoopSmart.
George is a 1986 Farmington Hills Harrison High School and 1990 Albion College graduate. He played point guard for the Britons.
George and his wife, Meggan, have two sons, Jordan, a 2020 Hope graduate, and Tyler, a 2022 graduate.
