Two goals in a span of 66 seconds proved enough for the Hope women's soccer team as it defeated Albion 2-1 on the road on Tuesday.
The Flying Dutch (9-2-1 overall) remained in third place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings with 19 points and a 6-2-1 league record. They are one point ahead of fourth-place Adrian and two behind second-place Alma.
Senior forward Kristina Bosch of Holland (Holland Christian HS) opened the scoring at the 34-minute, 24-second span on a header. Junior midfielder Erin Jipping of Holland (West Ottawa HS) had the assist on Bosch's fourth goal of the season.
Just 1:06 later, Jipping headed home a goal herself for her third goal of the season and a 2-0 lead. Freshman Sarah Fazio of Holland (Holland Christian HS) picked up the assist.
Junior goalie Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Ill., (Grayslake Central) made three saves for Hope. She allowed only Albion's lone goal in the 52nd minute.
The Flying Dutch trail MIAA-leading Calvin by just three points. Calvin took over first place by edging Alma 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday.
