Junior Tarwo Konbloa scored 55 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Hope men's soccer team to a 3-2 win against Kalamazoo on Wednesday night.

The Flying Dutchmen maintained sole possession of second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings with 12 points. They improved to 8-3-1 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Konbloa, a midfielder from Kentwood (East Kentwood HS), blasted the winning shot from 15 yards out after it deflected to him during a scrum near the front of the Kalamazoo goal. It was his second goal of the season.

"The team put the ball at the right spot. I was just lucky to be there," Konbloa said. "This is the not the first time we've been down late. It's happened before. Whenever this happens, Coach (Steven Smith) always inspires us."

Hope overcame a 2-1 deficit in the 76th minute after Kalamazoo scored twice in a span of 4 minutes, 21 seconds.

Senior Jason Muller of Petoskey (Petoskey HS) pulled the Flying Dutchmen even in the 79th minute. He launched in a free kick from 25 yards out for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Junior back Logan Sikkenga of Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS) broke a scoreless tie in the 63rd minute. He headed in a corner kick from six yards out, with Muller garnering the assist.

Hope goalie Ethan Beswick of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) made four saves.
