Hope College plays its home football games at Ray & Sue Smith Stadium. The 5,322-seat facility was renamed for the former Hope football coach (1970-94) and his wife after Hope College purchased the former Holland Municipal Stadium from the city of Holland in 2012.
Ray & Sue Smith Stadium is located on a 16-acre parcel near 16th Street and Fairbanks Avenue, south of the college-owned Ekdal J. Buys Athletic Complex. There is on-site parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles. The stadium has a spacious press box and two concession stands with restrooms. Team locker rooms are available at the nearby city-owned Bouws swimming pool. The nearby Lugers Fieldhouse serves the football team with a sports medicine center and locker rooms.
The first Hope football game in the stadium was a 20-2 victory over Wabash College of Indiana on Sept. 15, 1979. The 1997 Flying Dutchmen established a single season attendance record with an average of 4,148 fans per game. Playing their first night game at the stadium, the Flying Dutchmen attracted a record 6,421 fans for the Community Game against Benedictine, Ill.
Artificial turf was installed at the stadium beginning with the 2012 season.
