The Hope College women's soccer team started off Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play off on the right foot, rallying to beat Albion College 3-1 on Monday night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The Flying Dutch improved their record to 4-0 to start the season and 1-0 in MIAA action.

The match was scheduled for Monday afternoon at Albion, but an overnight rainstorm made the Britons' field unplayable. Hope now will play at Albion on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.

The Flying Dutch scored three unanswered goals, including two in the second half to break a 1-1 tie.

Junior forward Nora Kirk of Maumee, Ohio, (Notre Dame Academy) put Hope ahead 2-1 in the 69th minute with her team-leading third goal of the season. Junior midfielder Erin Jipping of Holland (West Ottawa HS) added her second assist of the season.

Jipping then closed the scoring in the 88th minute by netting her second goal of the season off a breakaway. Kirk had her first assist of the season on the play, giving her a team-leading seven points.

Senior forward Kristina Bosch of Holland (Holland Christian HS) tied the score at 1-1 in the 25th minute with her first goal of the season. Albion (2-2, 0-1 MIAA) struck in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead.

The Flying Dutch outshot Albion by a 20-4 margin in front of a Van Andel Soccer Stadium crowd of 176.

Hope junior Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Ill., (Grayslake Central HS) had three saves in goal.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Thursday, Sept. 12, when they travel to MIAA rival Adrian College, a 5-1 winner against Olivet College on Monday. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
