The Flying Dutchmen improved to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.
Senior Gavin Midlam of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS), scored 3 minutes, 27 seconds into the match to give Hope a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Josh Hagene of Caledonia, Michigan (East Kentwood HS), struck 13 minutes later with his sixth goal of the season.
Hagene joined senior Cameron Dice of Allendale, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS), for the team lead in goals.
Goalies Ethan Beswick of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), and Sam Barthel of Waukesha, Wisconsin (Waukesha HS), combined on the shutout.
Beswick made three saves in 85 minutes of action against Trine (4-9-1, 1-7).
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Adrian. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
