The top-ranked Hope College volleyball team claimed two more wins on Saturday in Alliance, Ohio, including one against a ranked opponent on its court.
The Flying Dutch swept seventh-ranked Mount Union (Ohio) and Capital (Ohio) during nonleague play at Mount Union.
Hope improved to 19-0 overall and extended its best start in school history.
Against Mount Union, the Flying Dutch won 25-22, 25-19 and 25-15 behind a match-high 16 kills from senior Jenna Grasmeyer of Jenison, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS).
Senior Anna Lynch of Lake Odessa, Michigan (Lakewood HS), added nine kills for Hope.
Senior Elyse Maley of Milton, Indiana (Lincoln HS), totaled a match-high 15 digs, while junior Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), had 39 assists and four service aces.
Against Capital, Hope won 25-11, 25-15, 26-24 behind a match-high 12 kills from Lynch and 11 from Grasmeyer.
Junior Allie Mitchell of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), collected a match-high 17 digs. Hazekamp had 42 assists and eight kills, while senior Amy VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) chipped in eight kills.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8, when the Flying Dutch play at Alma for a 6:30 p.m. match.
