Flying Dutchmen Tennis Player Receives Weekly MIAA Honor

Hope College's Parker Bussies has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week in men's tennis for matches played through April 27.

The senior from Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland West HS), went 5-0 in singles play for the week, including wins over the top two seeds to win the "A" singles flight at the MIAA Flighted Tournament at Hope.

Bussies won the flight championship with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 victory over Albion's Eric Guindi.

Earlier in the week, Bussies posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles against Calvin that helped the Flying Dutchmen clinch home-court advantage for the semifinals of the MIAA team tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Bussies is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
