Flying Dutch's Stephanie Rogers All-MIAA First Team In Women's Lacrosse

Hope College women's lacrosse player Stephanie Rogers has been named an All-MIAA First Team Defender for the 2014 season by the league's coaches.

The senior from Fremont, Michigan (Fremont HS), is one of 13 players and four defenders across the league to receive All-MIAA First Team recognition.

Rogers started all 13 games this season for Hope, which finished with a 6-7 overall record and placed fifth in the MIAA standings. Rogers totaled 28 groundballs and one assist.

Hope coach Tracy Benjamin said the recognition for Rogers is well-deserved.

"When Stephanie was a freshman, she had never played lacrosse before. She started as an attack player, then as the year went on, we had a need for a defender. She stepped into that role," Benjamin said. "Defense is a hard position to have statistical recognition for. I'm really glad Stephanie is being recognized.

"She's a strong defender. She works hard. She doesn't always get recognized."
