Box Score Jenna Grasmeyer continues to make her mark as one of the top outside hitters in the history of Hope College volleyball.
The senior from Jenison, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS), recorded a near-school record 20 kills during a three-game sweep of Olivet College on Wednesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.
No. 3-ranked Hope improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with the 25-17, 25-14, 25-11 win.
Grasmeyer came within one kill of matching the school's best kill effort in a three-set match. She totaled 21 kills in two previous three-set matches (vs. Kalamazoo, 10/10/12 and the University of Chicago, 9/7/13)). She sits atop the record book with Jacie Fiedler (vs. St. Norbert, 10/16/10).
Grasmeyer finished with a kill percentage of .459. She made only three hitting errors.
Junior setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), collected 41 assists and a team-high three blocks for Hope.
Sophomore middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West HS), added eight kills against Olivet (2-5, 1-3 MIAA). The Flying Dutch have now swept six of seven opponents this season, including a run of six consecutive.
Hope is now idle until a Tuesday, Sept. 18, MIAA match at Albion College.
