Goals from three different players fueled the Hope College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Trine on Saturday that catapulted the Flying Dutch into sole possession of first place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
The Flying Dutch pushed their win streak to three matches as they improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in MIAA play.
Hope scored twice in a span of 2 minutes, 40 seconds midway through the first half in Angola, Indiana.
Senior Erin Jipping of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) struck first with an unassisted goal 21 minutes, 49 seconds into the match.
Sophomore Elizabeth Perkins of Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS), followed at 24:29 with a goal off an assist from senior Lindsey Bieri of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS).
Jipping and Perkins share the Hope team lead with three goals apiece.
Sophomore Natalie Curry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville Calvin Christian HS), added her first goal of the season 19:12 into the second half. Junior Kristin Hazlett of Bay Village, Ohio (Bay Village HS) had the assist.
Senior goalie Kat Dickson of Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), made three saves for the Flying Dutch.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14, with a 4 p.m. MIAA match at Olivet.
