Hope Women's Soccer Tops Olivet On Late Goal

Box Score

Kristin Hazlett scored with four minutes and five seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Hope College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Olivet on Tuesday.

The Flying Dutch (5-2 overall) remained undefeated in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a 4-0 league record and 12 points. They are three points ahead of second-place Adrian.

Hazlett, a junior from Bay Village, Ohio (Bay HS), snapped a 1-1 tie off an assist from freshman Erin Brophy of West Lafayette, Indiana (West Lafayette HS). It was Hazlett's second goal of the season.

Olivet (2-3-1 MIAA, 0-3 MIAA) tied the score 26 minutes earlier.

Hope took a 1-0 lead at the 33:04 mark of the first half. Sophomore Elizabeth Perkins of Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS), delivered her team-leading fourth goal in the season. Perkins converted a rebound after her first shot hit the crossbar.

Goalie Kat Dickson made four saves for the Flying Dutch. The senior from Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), helped Hope limit the MIAA's second-highest scoring offense to one goal.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host Saint Mary's College at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is noon for the match that is part of Hope's Purple Games to benefit Van Andel Institute.
