Freshman Ryan Woodside of Bloomington, Illinois (Normal Community HS), scored his second goal of the season to help the Hope College men's soccer team earn a 1-1 tie at Alma on Saturday.

Woodside pulled the Flying Dutchmen even with an unassisted goal 2 minutes, 1 second into the second half.

Neither team was able to produce a tiebreaking goal the remaining 42:59 of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime. The Flying Dutchmen are now 5-7-1 overall and 2-5-1 in MIAA play.

Senior goalie Sam Barthel of Waukesha, Wisconsin (Waukesha HS), made four saves against Alma (8-3-1, 5-2-1). 

Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when the Flying Dutchmen host Calvin. Kickoff is 8 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
