Box Score Sophomore Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), scored a match-high six goals to help the Hope College men's lacrosse team beat Milwaukee School of Engineering 14-12 on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen raised their overall record to 5-9 with the nonleague win at Van Andel Stadium.
Elder leads Hope with 41 goals this season. He is tied with Caleb Digison (2014) for single-season goals scored in the Flying Dutchmen's three-year history.
Josh Kamstra holds the school record with 48 during the 2013 season.
Elder's four first-half goals aided Hope for an 8-7 halftime lead.
Elder scored the first two goals of the second half over a 1 minute, 21-second span. The Flying Dutchmen outscored Milwaukee School of Engineering 6-2 during the period.
Freshman Mike Odea of Naples, Florida (Barron Collier HS), chipped in three goals against MSOE (5-9).
Hope returns to action on Wednesday when the Flying Dutchmen host MIAA-leading Albion at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Stadium.
