The Hope College men's soccer team lost to visiting Alma 3-1 on Wednesday at Van ANdel Soccer Stadium in the MIAA opener for both teams.

Senior David Porte of Mattawan, Michigan (Mattawan HS), scored his second goal of the season during the 72nd minute for the Flying Dutchmen (3-3 overall).

Alma (4-1 overall) scored twice in the first 15 ½ minutes of the match, including just 2:36 after opening kickoff. 

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Calvin. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m.
