Hope Forward Elizabeth Perkins Named MIAA Player Of The Week

Hope College forward Elizabeth Perkins has been chosen Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 24.

The junior from Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) contributed to fourth-ranked and unbeaten Flying Dutch earning wins against Calvin and Trine last week. This is the first time she has received the award in women's basketball.

Perkins finished the week averaging 11 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one steal and 0.5 blocks per contest. She shot 52.9 percent from field, making nine of her 17 attempts from the floor and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line for the week.

On Saturday, Perkins helped Hope escape an upset bid at Trine on Saturday by scoring 10 of her game-high 14 points during the fourth quarter for the Flying Dutch in a 65-61 win. Perkins played all 10 minutes of the final quarter going 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line.

Perkins scored eight points earlier in the week against rival No. 15 Calvin during a 79-47 win at DeVos Fieldhouse. She shot 57 percent from the floor in the 79-47 victory over the nights in just 17 minutes of action against the Knights.
