The Hope College volleyball team closed the 2016 season with 25 wins after a loss to No. 23 ranked Elmhurst, Illinois in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Thursday night.

The Flying Dutch finished with a 25-6 record after the 28-26, 25-22, 25-20 defeat at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Sophomore Katie Rietberg of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) totaled a match-high 15 kills for Hope.

Senior Sarah Feldpausch of White Cloud, Michigan (White Cloud) added 11 kills.

Senior Alexis Thompson of Monroe, Michigan (St. Mary Catholic Central) collected 20 digs.

Junior Sophia Hackett of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) netted 34 assists and 10 digs.

Hope was ranked ninth in the nation after winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament last weekend.
