Freshman Mark VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) won his match at No. 4 singles for the Hope College men's tennis team Saturday during an 8-1 loss to No. 26-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in Kalamazoo.

VanderStoep defeated Michael Schnarr 6-7 (4), 7-5, 1-0 (10-7).

Hope fell to 0-3 on the season.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Friday, Feb. 19 when they host Carthage, Iowa at DeWitt Tennis Center. Start time is 4 p.m.
