The Gornos attended the matches and a pre-match ceremony. She has been diagnosed with colon cancer after a successful breast cancer fight.

Head men's and women's tennis coach Adam Ford said before the match his players are excited to honor Peggy Gorno and provide any support for her they can.

Peggy Gorno is an inspirational figure because of the positivity she has displayed throughout her cancer fight, Ford said.

"She showed up to our first match this season and was just all smiles. I had no idea she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery coming up," Ford said. "She was as positive as she could be. She's been dealt a pretty bad card. She still is positive and continues to fight every day with a smile on her face."

Davenport won the men's match 6-3 and the women's match 5-4.
