Hope College's Hannah VanAlst has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played through February 28.

The freshman midfielder from Clio, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) is honored after helping the Flying Dutch defeat Otterbein, Ohio 10-8 in their season opener last week.

VanAlst contributed defensively while also registering two goals, six forced turnovers and five ground balls. 

This is the first time VanAlst has earned the MIAA's weekly recognition. Alma's Brianna Soriano was named the offensive player of the week.
