The 25th-ranked Hope College volleyball team rebounded with a fury in the fourth set to claim a 25-19, 25-11, 14-25, 25-21 win against Albion College on Tuesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.

The Flying Dutch improved to 11-5 overall and 7-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. They remained a game out of first place.

Hope never trailed during the final set against Albion (10-8, 4-4 MIAA) after scoring 12 of the first 14 points.

Two service aces by sophomore Jenna VanderLaan of Grand Rapids, Michigan (South Christian HS), pictured, and two kills by senior Haley Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) powered the Flying Dutch's decisive surge.

Muller recorded a team-best 12 kills with a .407 kill percentage. She also totaled nine digs.

Senior Paige Baker of Encinitas, California (La Costa Canyon) chipped in nine kills and seven blocks. She had a .529 kill percentage.

Senior Mallory Luke of Saline, Michigan (Saline) and sophomore Gabbi Vachon of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison) both reached double-digits in digs with 17 and 13, respectively.

Senior Sophie Hackett of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) had 28 assists.

The Flying Dutch's next match is Friday, October 6 against Trine during Youth Night at DeVos Fieldhouse. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
