Rachael Braginton's well-placed shot was all the Hope College women's soccer team needed to hold off Albion College for a 1-0 victory on Wednesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The junior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) buried a kick from 35 yards out in the top right corner of the net during the first half.

A Hope defense that allowed only five shots and one shot on goal made Braginton's fifth goal of the season stand up.

The Flying Dutch improved to 10-1 overall and 8-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

Hope holds a two-game lead over Calvin, Kalamazoo, and Olivet in the MIAA standings.

The Flying Dutch matched their season-high against Albion (6-4-1, 5-3-1 MIAA) with their fifth consecutive victory.

Hope's shutout was its eighth of the season.
