The Hope College football team wraps up the regular season on Saturday with a nonleague game at Concordia, Wisconsin. Kickoff is noon Central.
The Flying Dutchmen enter with a 7-2 record. With a victory today, Hope would record their first 8-win season since 2000 (8-2).
Despite not facing an MIAA opponent today, the flying Dutchmen could clinch a share of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title if Trine loses to Olivet.
This the third time Hope and Lakeland have faced each other. The Flying Dutchmen won the first two meetings: 31-6 last season at home at Smith Stadium and 48-13 in 2015 at Smith Stadium.
Hope has recorded consecutive seasons with at least seven wins for the first time in 16 years. The Flying Dutchmen went 7-2 in 2001 and 8-2 in 2002.
Hope entered the NCAA Division III regional rankings this week for the first time at No. 9 in the North Region.
There are only five Pool C at-large berths in the 32-team field for the NCAA playoffs that the Flying Dutchmen are eligible for. There are four regions in the country, but regional rankings is not a guarantee of selection to postseason play.
