Football's Brandon Ellsworth Claims CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

Hope College football player Brandon Ellsworth has been voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team for the 2017 season.

The senior defensive end from Webberville, Michigan (Fowlerville HS) is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

Ellsworth made 20 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks this season for the Flying Dutchmen, who finished with an 8-2 overall record and a runner-up mark of 5-1 in MIAA play.

Ellsworth is a biology major who plans to go to medical school after graduation.

Earlier this season, Ellsworth was chosen the recipient of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's 2017 Pete Schmidt Award for the top football student-athlete.

Earlier this fall, Ellsworth was one of the 183 semifinalists, across all NCAA and NAIA divisions, for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy and postgraduate scholarship.
