Box Score 2 The Hope College men's tennis team took four of six singles flights to beat Carthage, Wisconsin 5-4 for its first victory of the season on Saturday at DeWitt Tennis Center.
The Flying Dutchmen also lost 7-2 to Wabash, Indiana in nonleague action.
Hope claimed singles victories at third through sixth singles against Carthage: sophomore Mark VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) at No. 3, sophomore Christian Rhoades of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) at No. 4, sophomore Andrew Klein of Augusta, Michigan (Kalamazoo Christian) at No. 5, and senior Sam Kreps of Holland, Michigan (Holland) at No. 6.
Hope (1-4) returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 with a 3 p.m. nonleague match against Aquinas.
